Funny Thanksgiving Quotes - To combat the typical trite nonsense, some Thanksgiving quotes that are actually funny are in order. Some delight in platitudes that inspire or warm the heart, but others would rather get a good laugh from funny Thanksgiving quotes. Then there are crusty old cynics who have had it with Hallmark-approved sayings.

Some Thanksgiving Quotes from Funny people

Without further ado, here are some gems of Thanksgiving quotes from funny sources:

  • “We’re having something a little different this year for Thanksgiving. Instead of a turkey, we’re having a swan. You get more stuffing.” – George Carlin
  • “I celebrated Thanksgiving the old fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land.” – Jon Stewart
  • “Thanksgiving is an emotional holiday. People travel thousands of miles to be with people they only see once a year. And then discover once a year is way too often.” – Johnny Carson
  • “Thanksgiving, man! Not a good day to be my pants.” – Kevin James
  • “Turkey: A large bird whose flesh, when eaten on certain religious anniversaries has the peculiar property of attesting piety and gratitude.” – Ambrose Bierce, from The Devil’s Dictionary
  • “Coexistence: What the farmer does with the turkey – until Thanksgiving.” – Mike Connolly
  • “An optimist is a person who starts a new diet on Thanksgiving Day.” – Irv Kupcinet
  • “On Thanksgiving Day, all over America, families sit down to dinner at the same moment – halftime.” – Author Unknown, astutely observing the prevalence of the Thanksgiving Classic.
  • “I love Thanksgiving turkey … it’s the only time in Los Angeles you see natural breasts.” Arnold Schwarzenegger

A quick word from Mark Twain
  • Thanksgiving Day, a function which originated in New England two or three centuries ago when those people recognized that they really had something to be thankful for… if they had succeeded in exterminating their neighbors, the Indians.” – Mark Twain

Hope these were amusing. Happy Holidays!

Birthday Google Doodle

Whenever Google rolls out one of its quirky homepage redesigns, it's usually in commemoration of some famous event or celebrity birthday. Now, though, the search engine has decided to offer a special birthday doodle to each of its users -- even non-celebrity schmucks like us.

To get your very own birthday doodle surprise, you'll have to first add your birthday to your Google Profile, and make sure that you sign in to the service on your big day. Once you've signed in, you can head over to the Google homepage, where you'll find a festively designed doodle, replete with a cupcake, wrapped virtual gift and streamers. Clicking on the logo will send you to your Google Profile, where you'll find a special message from Google, congratulating you on making it this far without dying. Older users, of course, may not appreciate being reminded of their age, but others will certainly enjoy pretending that they ruled Google's homepage -- even if it's just for one day on one computer.

Penn State Football, Nittany Lions
It hasn't been quite the season that Joe Paterno and his Penn State Nittany Lions would have liked.

Penn State is currently 3-3, including an 0-2 mark in Big 10 games.

Losses to conference rivals Iowa and Illinois in the last two weeks have not provided Penn State much confidence as it heads into the meat of its schedule, not did a Week 2 loss to then No. 1 Alabama.

If Penn State is not able to turn things around, we will surely hear the calls for Paterno's head once again.

With a November 13th date looming against top-ranked Ohio State, and a regular season-ending game against No. 13 Michigan State, Penn State won't get any more breaks.

Smokeout Festival 2010

Smokeout Festival 2010, Rappers Cypress Hill pulled off a coup at their next festival smokeout in California – the owners of a medical marijuana dispensary will operate on the site.

The group will be on stage next to MGMT, Incubus and Erykah Badu, among others, the event in San Bernardino on Saturday (October 16), but the music will not be the main talking point.

Peace in the pattern of Medicine received approval to sell pot on the spot. Promoter Chang Weisberg tells Spinner.com he is convinced of its festival will pave the way for all the great musical events become marijuana sites of the environment “.

He said: “It is not too far from the future right now where you will see the head of 21-and-more use of medical marijuana. If we can leverage this industry in particular, be a positive advocate and help create policies, this change could have a substantial impact on my business. This means it will have a significant impact for musicians as well. ”

We see on-site consumption in smokeout as a major step towards the protection and empowerment of patients’ rights. It happens too much where patients are often tempered with and arrested for possession of less than an ounce of medicine. Here in smokeout, our fans can exercise their rights without fear or intimidation. By having the consumer security and humanitarian smokeout, we hope to create a viable precedent for music festivals and community. We hope it inspires others to take this step and advance the movement. ”

BCS standings 2010 will be based upon the college football rankings through October 17. Those first 2010 BCS standings will then come out on the evening of October 17, when ESPN will reveal which teams are in the driver's seat to make the 2010 college football championship game. Things got pretty chaotic when the BCS was originally created, and quite a few things about the 2010 college football schedule have set up a first 2010 BCS standings that could be very frustrating to many other football fans. The reason for the chaos is partly because so many voters are split about which teams should be in the top two spots in the college football polls, and that has led to quite a bit of debate.

Alabama lost to South Carolina on Saturday, knocking them out of the No. 1 ranking in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches' Poll. It was a shocking result, and the game ended up being entirely one-sided in favor of South Carolina. With Alabama getting knocked out of their No. 1 ranking, it meant a new team would take over that spot, and this week it was the Ohio State Buckeyes. They were anything but a unanimous favorite though, getting just 34 first place votes in the latest AP Top 25. That's not necessarily a huge thing, because the AP Top 25 doesn't play into how the polls are calculated right now. What it does show though, is that there are quite a few good teams out there in the world of college football that deserve a shot at the title.

The first major Harris Poll of the 2010 season has Ohio State with 79 out of 124 first place votes. They are followed by Oregon, Boise State, TCU, and Nebraska. It's not that surprising
to see how they are ordered when we consider both the AP and Coach's Polls. What might be troublesome though, is that there are so many schools still undefeated. Two Big Ten teams (Ohio State and Michigan State) that don't play each other this year are undefeated, three Big 12 schools (Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma) are undefeated, two SEC schools (LSU and Auburn) are undefeated, and then there is Oregon, Boise State, TCU, Nevada, and Utah. Several teams have a great shot at finishing 2010 undefeated, not getting a chance at the title game, and suddenly favoring a playoff system to clean up this chaos. That only gives one more week of game before the first 2010 BCS standings frustrate college fans around the country.

Ironman Kona Hawaii 2010Virginia Berasategui run tonight for the sixth time in the Hawaii Ironman.

Despite all odds point to Britain’s Chrissie Wellington as a favorite American, Berasategui arrives on the island “full of energy” and confident that the drawer is a laudable goal, but achievable.
Ironman Kona Hawaii 2010The Basque athlete attends the event “no pressure” and a good time. “I come with the homework done, I have trained at a good level and have achieved all the goals of the season,” he says.

Berasategui has starred in a difficult season. It remade its two injuries while training, one in Mallorca and one in Germany. In fact, he proclaimed victory in Cologne and European champions as well as make the podium in Abu Dhabi, Wildflower and the World Championship.

The Bilbao is aware that crown in Hawaii is very difficult, especially if you have an opponent as Wellington. “It must be a horrible day to defeat it, and I am in perfect condition” he admits.

Another athlete that threaten the goal of Virginia’s Julie Dibens. The UK has shown great form throughout this season, allowing him to win in March at the Abu Dhabi Triathlon.

Australia’s Mirinda Carfrae, second in the Ironman in 2009, notable for its terms to run on foot. This year, however, its best was the third in the Tri Zarautz.

Caroline Steffen, Swiss cyclist Cervelo team, has been world champion long distance in Germany, and their cycling skills make her a hard team to beat in that mode.

New Delhi: Commonwealth Games 2010: The Indians have lost their second spot at the medal tally list, as England have managed to clinch 77 medals altogether.

In the gold medal rush, India is in neck-to-neck fight with English. India is looking to increase the gold lead. In today’s game 2 gold medals are expected in tennis and 3 more in shooting.

Sania Mirza would be playing the women’s single final against an Australian player. At the same time, Somdev Devvarman would be playing his final match against another Australian in the Men’s Single.

Earlier, Devarrman emphatically defeated Matt Ebden of Australia 6-3, 6-1. After winning the game, Devvarman said, “It’s huge. Today was one of my biggest days.”

If Indians manage to grab 5 gold medals, they would be reaching to 25 gold medals. All eyes would be on the Indians today.

Was denkt ihr?

Werden “Das Supertalent” oder “Wetten dass…?” die meisten Zuschauer haben?

Big Day Out 2011There have been legitimate clues, dodgy rumours and a many an uncalculated bet, but finally the time has come to reveal the official 2011 Big Day Out line-up.

Australia’s biggest festival will be celebrating its 18th Birthday with a mammoth bill come January, headed up none other than Mr Maynard James Keenan and his band of merry men Tool. Returning exactly a decade after their last BDO outing, the German industrial kings are set to strap-on and plug-in when they reach our shores in January.

Speaking of iconic Big Day Out moments, are you sick of hearing your mates go on about dancing on stage with the Godfather of punk way back in 2006? Well, you will finally have the chance to be Iggy’s dog when Iggy Pop and The Stooges bring their Raw Power back to Australia next year.

Patrick Makau (Kenya) and Aberu Kebede (Ethiopia) had to battle the elements before taking victory at the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON. They were rewarded with 25 points each in the World Marathon Majors (WMM) series. Since both of them collected their first WMM points in their careers they have no significant impact on the current 2009-2010 series. This one will most likely be decided at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, which takes place on 10th October. The ING New York City Marathon on 7th November will then be the final event of the 2009-2010 series.

So often in the past running conditions had been ideal at the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON. But Sunday appeared to be the opposite with steady and partly heavy rain, a slight wind and a cool starting temperature of 12° Celsius. In what were the worst conditions for more than 20 years during a real,- BERLIN-MARATHON Patrick Makau still achieved a remarkable time of 2:05:08, winning by just two seconds from his fellow-countryman Geoffrey Mutai. Ethiopia's Bazu Worku was third with 2:05:25. Mutai and Worku also collected their first WMM points (15 and 10 points). It was the first time that three runners
clocked sub 2:06 times in the history of the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON.

In the women's race Aberu Kebede won in 2:23:58. She was exactly a minute ahead of fellow-Ethiopian Bezunesh Bekele (2:24:58) while Japan's Tomo Morimoto took third (2:26:10). Kebede and Bekele are now in a joint fifth place in the 2009-2010 WMM series with 25 points, but leader Liliya Shobukhova (Russia) has already collected 60.

The following athletes have collected WMM points at real,- BERLIN-MARATHON this Sunday (points counting for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 series):

Men:

1. Patrick Makau KEN 25 points 02:05:08

Way home, occasionally looking up, found that there was a little moon light stab eyes. A friend told me yesterday, because the present-day Beijing to clean and more than in the past, so often at night can see the stars and the moon, so he had intended to buy a telescope at home, watching the heavens. I encouraged him to buy a special high-level telescope looking at the stars, the addition of one asked him: "Beware of peeping neighbors sue you, this one; also carefully noted the police you thought you were in the window frame of terrorist weaponry! Recent a movie called: "wind", then back together with a 'tight' word, it is precisely the atmosphere around us today. "

Before and after Mid-Autumn Festival, received a lot of moon cake. Out of the box are especially beautiful, one level open, inside a small bread 4, its appearance is not Yang. Then think of the classic comic dialogue "scratch" the. Do not eat this thing for several years, and he looked like a little piece of good points, just had one, he climbs to fail, quickly drink, then gave up.

More moon cake box, is received and then transferred to someone else. Estimated or another given away after the others received. It also estimates that real people eat moon cake, very little. But you gave me, I sending him. Moving back and forth for some favor, to save the feast does not do dry.

In addition to outside of the Mid-Autumn moon cake is the large number of messages received. Absolute majority, and entirely without creativity is also empty of content. Simply to say hello to each other and remind each have their own Do not completely forgotten.

Annual festivals, New Year, will receive this message numerous articles. But often they like spam, but even after a large number of deleted.

There are 12 rare message is really very interesting series.

Mid-Autumn Festival this year, and gave them numerous messages, there are several very interesting indeed -

Such as this one: "overtime sweat of the poor, the rich play sweating; written materials, the poor, the rich reading material; due to poor personal money, public money is owed to the rich; sugar is poor , urine is rich; drinking degree view of the poor, the rich drink brand watch; married wife of the poor, including my grandmother is wealthy; arable land is poor, the sale of the land is rich; my wife To act as the secretary of the poor, but also serve as Secretary of the rich wife ... ... "

Although the content is no novelty, but better than the end of September reported that dozens more slogans, more people feel and memory.

There are also two text messages, The result is really very creative. A name is "Top Ten since the founding of Gold"; another name is "sex with an official with ten common and different." Only because of the content not suitable for children too, so not released here.

VMA 2010Everybody on the MTV News team is really looking forward to this weekend, as it represents a much-needed and well-deserved rest for the entire team, almost all of whom are recovering from last weekend's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The VMAs show is the highlight of every year on the MTV News calendar, though in order to bring you all the best coverage and behind-the-scenes access, it takes a lot of work, sweat, shoe leather and skipped meals. So now that the show is behind us, we're going to put our feet up, get massages and have long brunches with our loved ones this weekend. And after that, our batteries will be recharged fully and we'll continue to knock the news out of the park on a daily basis.

So enjoy your weekend, because we really will be enjoying ours. And just in case you missed any of the awesome VMA coverage here on the MTV Newsroom Blog, check out all the highlights below.

» As we mentioned, the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards were this past weekend. We opened with our totally killer white carpet pre-show, where Lady Gaga started winning awards and Nicki Minaj melted faces.

» Then the VMA show followed, which opened with a stunning performance by Eminem and got bigger and more epic from there.

» Gaga was the big story, as she collected eight awards — including the Moonman for Video of the Year.

» Though her awards were plentiful, Gaga's biggest head-turning moment was when she wore an outfit made of meat to collect her final award. Everybody weighed in, from PETA and Ellen DeGeneres to style experts and the Chick-Fil-A cows.

» Of course, Gaga's meat dress threw some curve balls. (Or not.)

» It wasn't all Gaga, though. Kanye West grabbed the spotlight as well, dropping a new song called "Runaway" that is already an instant classic.

» Another big surprise? Rihanna, who jetted in from the set of "Battleship" to tear the house down with Eminem on "Love the Way You Lie."

» Taylor Swift also made some waves with a moody new song that may or may not have been about Kanye.

» In typically epic, rocking fashion, Linkin Park's performance was so massive that only an observatory could truly contain it.

» The rest of the best moments from the VMAs included appearances by Lindsay Lohan and Cher, as well as performances by Justin Bieber, Usher, B.o.B and Paramore.

» Not interested in the VMAs? Other stuff happened this week too. For example: We got to stop worrying about Joaquin Phoenix's mental health, as "I'm Still Here" director Casey Affleck admitted it was just performance art.

» Finally, don't pretend like you don't want Uncle Nino to be your Uncle Nino.
Notting Hill Carnival

New figures from the Metropolitan Police show that 230 people were arrested during the Notting Hill Carnival. However, they did report a crime fall of 31 percent when compared to last year. Thus, they feel that this year’s carnival was a success.

Reports show that more than one million people attended this years three day street festival in west London. There were several arrests on Monday night after bottles and other missiles were thrown at some of the officers.

However, Inspector Jo Edwards said that the event had been largely trouble free. For the fourth year, there were no firearm incidents. Most carnival-goers had a fantastic time. A large part of the bank holiday weekend passed without serious incident.

Of course, Jo Edwards did go to talk about some of the trouble that they did see. He noted that, just like in previous years, some people were determined to ruin the fun for others. However, these people were taken care of as quickly as possible.

Although the Met only arrested 230 people, British Transport Police also arrested 53 people. Throughout the whole carnival, London Ambulance Service staff dealt with about 549 casualties. 41 of these people had to be taken to the hospital. The rest of them were just treated for some minor injuries.

In the four weeks running up to the event, more than 100 people were arrested. There were also a large amount of drugs and weapons taken off the street. This was done in order to make sure that things ran as smoothly as possible, and it seem to help this year.

Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood may have won the top trophy Wednesday night (June 9) at the 2010 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, but during her visit with reporters backstage, she insisted that the "biggest prize" was one seat over -- her fiancé, hockey player Mike Fisher.

"It's really great having him there because no matter what happens, I go home a winner," she told reporters in the pressroom of the Bridgestone Arena. "I have the biggest prize -- and it's the guy sitting next to me. Win or lose, I know he's proud of me, and that's really nice. But, of course, it's nice to share the good times with him, too, and to have him here for anything."

Asked how her upcoming wedding ceremony and reception will be unique, Underwood replied, "Goodness, I don't know! We're still working on everything. I'll tell you afterwards. I haven't been to too many weddings, so I really don't have that much to compare it to. But I guess the unique thing will be me and Mike." After a shy giggle, she added, "We've never been married before, so it will be like anybody else's wedding." However, their wedding date has not been publicly announced.

Fisher, who appeared with Underwood at the City of Hope celebrity softball game earlier this week, has become friends with some of her contemporaries, as well.

"Everybody has been so nice and welcomed him," Underwood said. "He was walking by Brad Paisley earlier, and he's like, 'Let's go hang out.' I said, 'I leave on Saturday to go back on the road.' He's like, 'We don't need her. Let's go.' Everybody's been super nice. Not that I expected anything different because I know what kind of people I'm around."

Although the inescapable "Cowboy Casanova" won the night's top prize for video of the year, Underwood also holds a special place in her heart for "Temporary Home." Her live rendition of the ballad on CMT's concert series, Invitation Only, won the award for CMT performance of the year. (She also corrected one of her earlier acceptance speeches by saying that she hasn't worked exclusively with Revolution Pictures on her videos. The video team of Deaton-Flanigen helmed "Temporary Home.")

"I love that song," she said. "It really does mean a lot to me. I feel like with each album, I get more serious writing. That song, to me, is one of the most important things I've ever written down on a piece of paper. I love singing it every single night. And every single night, people sing it with me. There's nothing like that. It's an amazing feeling."

Because all of the categories at the CMT Music Awards are fan-voted, the former American Idol winner praised her fans' dedication.

"They made me," she said. "I know they make all of us because, of course, we couldn't do anything [without them]. Nobody would play our stuff or see us in concert. They are what drives us. For me, it's a little bit different because they were there before I had anything -- before I had an album, before I had a record deal, before I had a tour going on. They made me from the ground up.

"It's been so great being on the road and seeing all them. I kind of took a year off last year and wrote and recorded and stuff like that. And every time I go back on the road, it's a re-energizing situation, every single night, because you feel them. You can feel their energy. It's awesome -- being on the road and stuff like this. They're amazing. And they work harder than any of us."

Fielding a question about her private fan club party held earlier in the week, Underwood replied, "The fan club part is always fun. Like I said, they work so hard. They call radio stations: 'Play Carrie, play Carrie, play Carrie!' They're the ones who get my stuff to No. 1. They spread the word. It really is Team Carrie. It's awesome."

January JonesThe morning after chatter following a major television award show usually has the fashion police picking a winner, and more importantly, a loser.

This year's victim seems to be January Jones, the hot starlet who plays the wife of Don Drapper on ''Mad Men,'' which won the best drama category at the 2010 Emmys on Sunday night.

Jones wore an ocean blue, strapless Atelier Versace dress, the texture of which appeared to be scales and pointy cones for a breast, along with a trail. The dress quickly caught the evil eye of fashionistas on the red carpet before the awards show began at 8 p.m. on NBC.

As she did interviews on the arm of her boyfriend, ``Saturday Night Live'' cast member Jason Sudeikis, the bash-the-dress talk began. It continued in the morning shows on Monday.

''Didn't someone tell her that Madonna did that look years ago?'' one critic sniped.

''Her hair is too messy for an award show,'' said another.

Jones also lost in the best actress in a drama category to Kyra Sedgwick of ''The Closer.''
